Five easy coffee drink recipes
Americans love their coffee. While we all have our everyday favorite pot of brew for daily use, sometimes we all crave a cup with a new flavor twist. We have put together five fast coffee drink recipes that are all simple to prepare, but have a little extra snap to make each cup special.1. For something totally simple, make a pot of your favorite brew (just stronger than usual), add in some un-whipped whipping cream, straight from the carton. It's toatally rich, almost regal and easy enough for me.
2. Mexican coffee can be made with a teaspoon of cinnamon, sprinkled over your coffee in the basket portion of your brewer. Brew your coffee as usual, pour it into a big mug and add about two to three tablespoons of whipped cream. On top of the whipping cream, sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg. Drink right from the mug, or sip with a straw.
3. Don't forget about Irish coffee. If you have a traditional Irish coffee mug, use them. Irish mugs are tall and thin. Pour in a shot of Irish whiskey, then the hot coffee, but leave enough room for a healthy dose of whipped cream. They're great on a chilly evening.
4. After dinner coffee drinks can double as an easy dessert. This works well when you're too filled up for dessert anyway. Coffee and Kahlua® is just such a drink. Add a shot of Kahlua to a mug of coffee and top it off with whipped cream. You can serve it either hot or cold — I prefer hot.
5. Iced coffee drink recipes require some advance preparation. Make a strong pot of coffee and allow it to cool. Then freeze the coffee in ice trays. When it's frozen, you can put the cubes in a freezer bag for easy access at serving time. A few hours before you plan to serve the iced coffee, make a pot of regular strength coffee, allow it to cool and then refrigerate it. When it's time to serve, fill a tall glass with the frozen coffee cubes, pour the cold coffee over it and garnish with whipped cream. If you want to go a bit further, you can drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream.
